Charlotte has been studying Pilates for over 25 years. She began her movement training studying ballet from a young age and then performing as part of a contemporary dance company, she then worked as a model and actress. Throughout her career she has used Pilates as an integral part of her training, she continues to dance and also trains in Yoga, Laban Movement Psychology, Body Psychology and Alexander Technique. She completed her Pilates Foundation Matwork teacher training with the Pilates Foundation in 2013.
Fascinated with the engineering of the body, Charlotte’s classes have a sensory-kinaesthetic dimension which encourages the Pilates practitioner to develop their own communication with their body. Drawing on the whole range of her experience, the body is centred by developing an awareness of anatomical alignment, then moved through the Pilates principals.
“Pilates for me was a revelation. After a month of twice weekly classes I was amazed at the difference it created not just from the way that it changed my body shape, but the way I felt strong, focused and confident. Teaching now I’m constantly reminded again and again of the change that can happen from the inside out, developing the quality of sensation of your inner most muscles, the rhythm of breath, gaining core strength, awareness and focus”.
